Gratutious Icon Post, Mark II
Jul. 2nd, 2010 08:19 pm(Icon description: A dark green abstract falling-leaf design, with the motto" "A tree will fall in the forest and the forest will hear.")
I liked the image of the first version of this icon (see footnote)*, and the way I managed to show depth with flat color, and the positive and negative spaces between sky and trees. But the writer in me squirmed under its caption's passive voice, especially since a tree falling in the forest is such a dramatic event.
Of course, an icon's real value only shows up in how well it compliments the journal entry, or comment, it's paired with. I'm not sure what sort of entries this icon would work best with. ... Maybe nostalgia posts? Or obituary posts? Or comments reminding friends that they are not as alone as they feel they are? All of the above?
...
Anyway, I latched onto tackling this icon concept in lieu of writing a potentially tl;dr post about philosophical insights that have crystalized for me through my daily writing exercises. So either this icon or the other will probably show up on that post, if I ever get around to writing it.
*(Footnote): A forest-and-sky landscape rendered in flat blocks of green and blue, the overlaying caption reads: "A tree in the forest will be heard by a forest of ears."
